The live cookie inventory is configuration-dependent
The categories below describe the technologies the website may use. The exact cookie name, provider and duration can change when hosting, analytics, security or communication services are reconfigured. Browser developer tools and any consent panel shown on the website provide the current technical record.
01What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file stored by a website in a browser or device. Cookies can remember information between page requests or visits, such as a secure session identifier, language selection or consent choice.
Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, software development kits, tags and device identifiers. This policy uses the word “cookies” to cover these technologies where they perform a similar function.
- First-party cookie
- Set by the SB2Markets website domain and generally used for functions controlled by the website operator.
- Third-party cookie
- Set or read by an external service included on the page, such as an analytics, video, chat or advertising provider.
- Session cookie
- Normally removed when the browser session ends, although browser restore features may retain a session in some circumstances.
- Persistent cookie
- Remains until its expiry date, deletion by the user or replacement by the website or provider.
02Why the website may use cookies
Cookies support secure and consistent website operation. They may also help remember choices, measure performance, diagnose failures, prevent abuse and understand how visitors interact with public pages.
- Maintain an authenticated session and route requests to the correct server.
- Protect forms and account actions against cross-site request forgery and automated abuse.
- Remember language, accessibility, display and consent preferences.
- Measure page performance, navigation paths and technical errors.
- Support chat, embedded media, notifications or other requested third-party features.
- Measure permitted campaigns or communications where optional tracking has been accepted.
03Categories of cookies and typical examples
Not every category is necessarily active on every page. Optional categories depend on administrator settings, provider integrations, jurisdiction and your consent choice.
| Category | Purpose | Typical examples | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Security, session continuity, forms, traffic routing and functions expressly requested by the user. | Session identifier, CSRF token, load-balancer or security cookie. | Session to a limited persistent period. |
| Preferences | Remember language, display, accessibility or consent selections. | Language preference, theme preference, consent record. | From the session to several months, depending on the setting. |
| Analytics and performance | Measure visits, page performance, navigation and errors so the service can be improved. | First-party analytics identifier, performance measurement, error diagnostic tag. | From a short session period to a defined analytics retention period. |
| Functional third party | Enable a requested feature provided by another organisation. | Chat, embedded video, map, document viewer or notification service. | Defined by the provider and feature. |
| Advertising and campaign measurement | Measure campaigns, limit repeated advertisements or create advertising audiences where legally permitted. | Campaign identifier, conversion tag, advertising identifier. | Defined by the provider and consent configuration. |
04Strictly necessary cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are used only to provide a service or function you request, preserve security or maintain the technical operation of the website. Depending on applicable law, these cookies may be used without optional consent because the website cannot perform the requested function reliably without them.
Blocking essential cookies through browser settings may prevent login, form submission, account navigation, security checks or preference storage. Essential cookies are not used for unrelated behavioural advertising.
05Optional cookies and consent choices
Where applicable law requires prior consent, optional analytics, advertising and non-essential third-party technologies should remain inactive until you make a valid choice. Consent must be specific enough to distinguish relevant purposes and can be withdrawn for future use.
Where a cookie preference panel is displayed, you can use it to accept, reject or modify optional categories. Rejecting optional cookies should not prevent access to core website functions, although a third-party feature may remain unavailable if it depends on the rejected technology.
Changing a preference stops future optional use where technically possible. It may not automatically delete a cookie already stored in your browser, so you may also need to remove it through browser settings.
06Third-party content and providers
Pages may include content or functionality supplied by another organisation, such as video, chat, analytics, social media, market data, payment support or security services. When activated, that provider may read or set cookies and process technical information under its own privacy notice.
We assess integrations before use and aim to load optional third-party features only under an appropriate legal basis. We do not control a third party’s independent retention, combination of data or account settings, so you should review the provider’s notice where relevant.
07Managing cookies in your browser or device
Most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies and to control whether third-party cookies are accepted. The location of these settings differs by browser and device. Private-browsing modes may reduce persistence but do not necessarily block all tracking technologies.
- Open the privacy, security or site-data settings in your browser.
- Review stored data for the website domain and any third-party domains shown.
- Delete selected cookies or clear site data where appropriate.
- Choose whether to block third-party cookies or all cookies, understanding that essential functions may be affected.
- Review browser extensions or device privacy controls that may independently allow or block scripts and storage.
08Cookie retention and expiration
A cookie is retained until the earliest of its expiry, deletion by the user, replacement by the website or removal because the associated service is no longer required. Session cookies are generally shorter-lived than persistent preference or consent records.
Where we control the cookie, retention is set with regard to the purpose and the need to avoid repeated requests. Where a third party controls it, the provider determines the technical duration subject to its contract, notice and your consent settings.
09Analytics, IP information and browser privacy signals
Analytics may process pages viewed, approximate location derived from an IP address, device type, browser, referrer, event timing and technical performance. Where practical, analytics should be configured to limit unnecessary identifiers and retention.
Browser “Do Not Track” and similar signals are not implemented consistently across all providers. Where a legally recognised consent signal or universal opt-out mechanism applies to the service, we assess and honour it as required by applicable law.
10Changes to this Cookies Policy
This policy may be updated when cookies, providers, consent requirements or website functions change. The updated date at the top of the page indicates the current published version.
A material change to optional tracking may require a renewed consent choice. Previously stored essential cookies may continue to operate where they remain necessary and lawful.
